Global On Media set out to transform legacy code and infrastructure to new technology. unicrew ran a complete rewrite and migration, moving both the servers and the codebase onto .NET Core, React, and Stencil.js. In the COO's account, the site came back much more stable, with performance highly improved. The engagement began in 2020 under our former Artelogic brand.

The challenge
Global On Media is an internet company in Israel with several online assets. The goal it brought to us was to transform legacy code and infrastructure to new technology, and the deciding factor in choosing unicrew was a complete rewrite implemented in .NET Core. That set the shape of the work: the application and the servers underneath it, in one engagement. Where only the application is rewritten, the new code goes live on the old environment and inherits its limits, which is how a modernization budget gets spent for a fraction of the benefit.
Our approach
unicrew took the work on as Global On Media’s legacy-modernization partner. The codebase was rewritten on .NET Core at the back end with React and Stencil.js at the front, and the servers were migrated in the same engagement rather than left in place. Five people ran it: a CTO, a project manager, and three full-stack developers, working in sprints, managed by the project manager, over Slack, Git, and Jira.
Results
The COO gave the outcome in one sentence: the site migrated and rewritten, the new system much more stable, performance highly improved. What made that possible was moving the two halves in step, new code on infrastructure that moved with it.
Modernization work splits across those two halves in different proportions. The cloud migration and DevOps study is the same problem weighted toward infrastructure, and the client reviews page has the rest, in the clients’ own words.
