iOS and Android apps for a building-security software company
unicrew contributed to the iOS and Android apps of a security software company, built on its existing web client, through to the production release.
A German software company in security and building management wanted the product it already ran as a web client available on iOS and Android. unicrew joined the in-house team and contributed to both mobile apps, working on new features and on layout, theming and video streaming. The engagement ran through to the release of their production apps, plus a prototype showcasing new features.

The challenge
The client is a German provider of software for security and building management. Its product already ran as a web client, and the next step was iOS and Android apps built on top of that, carrying new features and getting the experience details right, layout, theming and video streaming in particular. Whatever got built had to fit the company’s existing product and the team already working on it.
Our approach
unicrew contributed to the mobile app development for both iOS and Android, built on the client’s existing web client. Two to five of our engineers worked on implementing new features and on improving layout, theming and video streaming, using Angular, TypeScript and HTML5 alongside the native app work. They worked inside the client’s own teams and workflows rather than at arm’s length, which is the shape a dedicated team takes: our engineers in a process the client already owns, not a parallel one running beside it.
Results
The apps reached production. In the client’s own account, the project led to the release of their production apps and a prototype showcasing new features, and the people doing the work were fully integrated, reliable and responsive throughout.
“We were impressed by their strong technical and interpersonal skills.”
CPO, Software Solutions Company (Germany)
Two of our mobile engagements sit at opposite ends of the same range: this one joined a product team that already existed, while Triathlon Ireland got a new app alongside a rewrite of the platform behind it. More of what clients say about working with us is on the client reviews page.
What the client says
The project led to the release of our production apps and a prototype showcasing new features. They were reliable, responsive, and consistently addressed our needs very well. We were impressed by their strong technical and interpersonal skills and how smoothly they adapted to our team, processes, and product.

The questions behind the project
What did unicrew work on for the building-security software company?
unicrew contributed to the company's iOS and Android apps, built on its existing web client. The work was new features plus the experience details, layout, theming and video streaming in particular, done inside the company's own product and team rather than beside it. The project ended with the release of their production apps and a prototype showcasing new features. The client is a German software company working in security and building management.
What technologies did the project use?
Angular, TypeScript and HTML5 alongside the native iOS and Android work. The apps were built on the client's existing web client rather than started from scratch, and unicrew contributed to the mobile app development for both platforms. Two to five of our engineers worked on new features and on layout, theming and video streaming.
How closely did unicrew's engineers work with the client's team?
Fully integrated, not at arm's length. Two to five unicrew engineers worked inside the client's own teams and workflows, and the client credited them with adapting smoothly to the team, the processes and the product, and with being reliable and responsive throughout.
Have you shipped mobile apps outside the security industry?
Yes, including a sports app for a triathlon association. What our engineers bring to a build like this one is capability rather than anything belonging to a previous client: extending a product that already exists on the web onto iOS and Android, handling the parts that are fiddly rather than glamorous like theming and video streaming, and working inside a client's own team and release process. What we carry to the next engagement is the experience. More client feedback is on our client reviews page.
