Middle DevOps Engineer

unicrew is hiring a Middle DevOps Engineer, hybrid or fully remote from Poland or Ukraine, to help build a production-grade Azure Kubernetes platform.

Location
Poland,Ukraine
Work model
Hybrid

About the role

You will help take a new Azure Kubernetes platform from "it works" to production grade. It replaces two legacy environments that run the systems of a German home energy business.

You join 2 client-side DevOps engineers. The engagement is long-term: 6+ months, starting November 2026, with one position open. Work format is hybrid or fully remote.

What you will do

  • Implement Pulumi modules and components within the agreed architecture
  • Port parts of the legacy database abstraction and get them working
  • Write and run the full-rebuild tests that prove the environment can be recreated from code
  • Build Grafana dashboards and alert rules, and move existing ones over from Datadog
  • Implement the configuration toggles and the tooling for on-demand ephemeral environments
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and self-hosted runners on the cluster
  • Create templates and docs so developers manage their own alerts and dashboards through repositories
  • Operate the cluster day to day (upgrades, troubleshooting) and review teammates' pull requests

What you bring

  • 4-5 years of experience
  • Hands-on production Kubernetes experience beyond deploying apps: you have operated clusters, handled upgrades, and troubleshot real incidents
  • Hands-on experience inside an Azure environment designed by others: AKS, storage accounts, Key Vault, resource groups
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is fine, Pulumi is a plus), and comfortable writing object-oriented Python (modules, classes, abstractions)
  • Working knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem: GitOps, service mesh / CNI, observability, secrets, policy engines
  • CI/CD experience: you build and maintain pipelines, self-hosted runners, and GitOps delivery
  • Reviews teammates' pull requests competently
  • Confident spoken English for daily work with the client team
  • Self-directed: productive from goals and a moving backlog, not only fully specified tickets

Nice to have

  • Pulumi in production
  • Istio, Cilium, Argo CD, Kyverno, Kubescape, external-secrets, Kiali
  • Grafana stack (dashboards, alerting, tracing) at production quality
  • Self-hosted CI runners on Kubernetes
  • German (helps with tickets, not required)

Hiring Stages

  1. Screening
  2. General Interview
  3. Hiring Manager Interview
  4. Technical Interview
  5. Technical Interview with the client's DevOps lead
  6. Offer

What we offer

  • Paid vacation and sick leaves in line with local standards

  • Support in preparation, as well as full reimbursement of professional certifications
