About the role

We are looking for an experienced Bid Manager to help us systematically identify, qualify, prepare, and win new tender and RFP opportunities across the UK and European markets.

This is a commercially focused role. We are not looking only for someone who can write proposals. We want someone who understands how to position a technology company competitively and manage the full bid lifecycle from opportunity identification through submission and follow-up.

This role provides the opportunity to build and lead a structured bidding function inside a growing international technology company.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying relevant public and private sector tenders, RFPs, RFQs, frameworks, and procurement opportunities.
  • Monitoring platforms including Find a Tender, Contracts Finder, Crown Commercial Service frameworks, procurement portals, and relevant private-sector opportunities.
  • Assessing opportunities and making clear bid / no-bid recommendations.
  • Managing the complete tender process from initial review through final submission.
  • Reviewing tender requirements, eligibility criteria, scoring methodologies, contractual requirements, and deadlines.
  • Working closely with unicrew's technical, commercial, delivery, and leadership teams to prepare responses.
  • Writing and editing high-quality tender responses and executive summaries.
  • Translating technical capabilities into clear commercial value propositions.
  • Coordinating technical responses, case studies, CVs, pricing information, security documentation, policies, certifications, and supporting evidence.
  • Developing reusable bid content, case studies, company credentials, and proposal templates.
  • Ensuring every submission is compliant, complete, persuasive, and delivered on time.
  • Managing clarification questions and post-submission communication.
  • Supporting presentations, interviews, and negotiation stages where required.
  • Tracking bid performance, win rates, feedback, and reasons for wins and losses.
  • Building a structured pipeline of upcoming procurement opportunities.

What we are looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in bid management, proposal management, tender management, or a related role.
  • Demonstrable experience managing successful tenders or RFPs.
  • Experience within software development, IT services, digital transformation, cloud, AI, data, technology consulting, or a closely related sector.
  • Strong understanding of UK procurement processes.
  • Experience with public-sector procurement would be highly advantageous.
  • Excellent written English and strong business communication skills.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and translate them into compelling commercial responses.
  • Strong project-management and deadline-management skills.
  • Experience working with technical SMEs, developers, architects, commercial teams, and senior leadership.
  • A commercial mindset and an ability to recognise which opportunities are genuinely worth pursuing.

Particularly valuable experience

  • UK government or local authority technology tenders.
  • Crown Commercial Service frameworks.
  • NHS, education, public-sector, or government digital procurement.
  • Enterprise software or digital transformation RFPs.
  • Software development outsourcing or nearshore technology services.
  • Cloud, DevOps, data, AI, SaaS, or application-development projects.
  • Framework applications and Dynamic Purchasing Systems.
  • Technology contracts ranging from approximately Β£100k to several million pounds.

How we measure success

Success in this role is not measured by the number of tenders submitted.

What we will focus on

  • Qualified tender opportunities identified.
  • Quality of bid / no-bid decisions.
  • Number and value of shortlisted opportunities.
  • Tender win rate.
  • Contract value won.
  • Quality and consistency of submissions.
  • Development of a repeatable bid-management process.
  • Growth of unicrew's public and enterprise-sector pipeline.

What you will bid with

  • ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, renewed through a multi-stage audit with Quay Audit UK.
  • 100+ senior in-house engineers across six countries to deliver the contracts you win.
  • Three engagement models to price against: time and materials, fixed price, and team extension.
  • A start window of two to four weeks for most engagements.
  • Published case studies and client reviews on Clutch to draw evidence from.

Working model

  • Location: UK, remote or hybrid
  • Employment: Full-time
  • Salary: Competitive, negotiable based on interview results
  • Performance bonus: Available based on successful commercial outcomes
  • We are open to candidates located anywhere in the UK and are more interested in relevant experience and demonstrated results than proximity to London.

What we offer

  • Compensation for courses and training.
  • A mentorship program where you can both mentor and be mentored.
  • Support in achieving professional certifications.
  • A clear and transparent career path framework to plan and track your career development.
  • A leadership culture that values trust over control, with the freedom to take ownership and drive results.
  • An inclusive team where age, gender, beliefs, or background are never barriers.
  • Work-life balance and clear, transparent company policies.
